    I wonder why there is so much emphasis on miracle powers when describing tantra, when that isn’t the point. Even in books that purport to discuss the spiritual path, there can be this emphasis. I am thinking of Autobiography of a Yogi, for example. Yogananda says that miracle powers are not the point, and yet a good portion of the book describes various people and their miracle powers.

    I have been a member of several spiritual communities. Each time, I left because people were more interested in socializing and gossiping. People didn’t like me and thought I was aloof. Like if you didn’t join in their games, you weren’t accepted. I wonder if the whole idea of practicing in a community is just a kind of spiritual babysitting service. –from Portland, Oregon

    Today, the New York Times reported that donors to Hilary Clinton’s bid for the U.S. presidency are concerned that her campaign is “running on fumes.”

    They mean that that the Clinton campaign may have more hot air than hard cash.
