The six modules of the course are:
AYURVEDA SELF-CARE I: INTRODUCTION TO AYURVEDA
Ayurveda, literally “the science of life,” is a system of health cultivation developed in india over ten thousand years ago. It helps us to live in harmony with the natural world and thereby remain healthier, calmer and less conflicted. Part I will introduce the key concepts used in ayurveda in simple terms that will be immediately applicable to your everyday life. Detailed instruction in the foundational Tantrik/Ayurvedic practice of Dinacharya will be offered.
AYURVEDA SELF-CARE I I: WORKING WITH THE THREE DOSHAS
Central to Ayurvedic self-care is working with the five elements as expressed in the three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha. The combination of these three energetic patterns defines our personal constitution or prakriti. In part II, participants will deepen their understanding of their prakriti and aquire practical tools for balancing the doshas.
AYURVEDA SELF-CARE I I I: YOGA AND AYURVEDA
Learn how to integrate your yoga practice with your Ayurvedic self-care regime by understanding and exploring the relationship between asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing), and the three doshas.
AYURVEDA SELF-CARE IV: AGNI, THE DIGESTIVE FIRE
Digestion is the key to both physical health and spiritual unfoldment. In this segment, you will learn how to improve your digestion of food, emotions, and experience. Includes cooking instruction.
AYURVEDIC SELF-CARE V and VI: RITUCHARYA, THE CYCLE OF THE SEASONS
During the cycle of the seasons, the balance of the five element is constantly shifting. Along with daily self-care, it is crucial to learn how to adjust your routine and nutrition to keep in tune with the seasons and stay balanced all year long. These final two course segments will include hands-on cooking instruction.
