    Why Ma’s Words?

Sri Anandamayi Ma, wrote no books. She delivered her teachings in response to questions from thousands of people from all walks and stations of life.

Ma’s teachings were witty, fierce, loving, precise and profound. Without religious dogma, she transmitted a direct understanding of the infinite potential of human life.

Anandamayi Ma is recognized as one of the most realized beings to ever manifest on earth. But perhaps because Ma was in a female body, or perhaps because she did not write books, her words have been studied less than those of many other teachers.

Anandamayi Ma delighted in language, and her words are breathtaking in their beauty, playfulness and power.

Thanks to two of her disciples, Atmananda and Brahmachari Kamal Bhattacharjee, we have transcriptions of Ma’s words and accurate translations of many of her satsangs into English.

Ma’s Words is a journey to discover the still-living transmission of this extraordinary human being through her oral teachings and her kirtan.
